Your weekly round-up of the best new releases and emerging artists from the past week. Featuring that Charli XCX video and the glorious return of Jessie Ware.
Charli XCX: Boys
What. A. Video. For those who’ve managed to miss out on the joy that is Charli XCX’s latest video, the wunderkind fills three minutes with 60 of pop culture’s finest men, essentially portraying the HISKIND team’s dreams pretty accurately.
Purity Ring: Asido
Marking five years since the release of their debut record Shrines, pop’s eeriest duo have gifted a one-off, remarkable-as-always track onto the internet to ease the wait of LP #3 for their pining fan base. Asido follows Purity Ring’s recent production credits on three epic tracks from Katy Perry’s not-so-wondrous Witness.
Jessie Ware: Midnight
Hands-down the greatest return of the week, the UK soul hero teases her as-yet-untitled third record with the humungous Midnight. Go ahead and join us in sticking this on repeat for a whole month.
Elohim X Whethan: Sleepy Eyes
Joining our fav electro-queen Elohim for Sleepy Eyes is Whethan, the Chicago producer whose past team-ups include the aforementioned pop-god Charli XCX. Together, the collaborative release is nothing short of remarkable and guaranteed to soundtrack the remainder of your summer ’17.
Blue Hawaii: No One Like You
Perhaps here to give the current dictionary definition of ‘lush’ a run for its money, Blue Hawaii welcome the announcement of their new record Tenderness with the brooding and infectious No One Like You. For fans of Yumi Zouma, Tennis and Braids (of which vocalist Raphaelle ‘Ra’ Standell can usually be found fronting).
Inner Tongue: Dig Deeper
Another teaser from Vienna-based project Inner Tongue’s debut record, Dig Deeper tackles adrenaline and the freeing feeling that comes hand-in-hand with take-off. Arguably the finest alone-in-your-bedroom-at-2am soundtracker that this week has thrown at us.
