Urban Outfitters to Release Pride Collection Benefitting LGBT+ Charities this June

Contemporary youth, fashion and lifestyle brand Urban Outfitters have tapped into the joy of pride season with an upcoming release of a pride based apparel collection in collaboration with rapper Taylor Bennett.

The collection, which features pastel pinks and blues and sees “love is love”, same-sex couples kissing and hand hearts appearing across the range will benefit LGBTQ+ charity GLSEN and the organisation’s mission to ensure safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ students.

“Honesty and being yourself is something that I believe should always be celebrated–whether it’s in hip-hop or everyday life,” said brand ambassador to the range and Chicago based rapper Taylor Bennett. “As an independent artist and entrepreneur, it’s great to find partners like Urban Outfitters who share that core value of recognising individuality during Pride Month and throughout the year.”

The range comes just in time for Pride month, launching in stores and online across Europe from June 12th, just weeks before cities across the globe paint themselves rainbow to celebrate the diversity and residence of the LGBTQ+ community.

The collection celebrates identity, love and colour, featuring one long-sleeve tee, two short-sleeve graphic tees and two baseball hats. The product comes in shades of pink, blue and white with colourful designs created by Urban Outfitters’ in-house designers.

All profits will go directly to GLSEN (pronounced “glisten”), an LGBTQ+ charity dedicated to ensuring schools are safe, supportive and enjoyable spaces for LGBTQ+ children and teens. The charity recently declared that 8 out of 10 LGBTQ+ students are still harassed at school each year because of who they are, with their mission purely trying to change that, through extensive research, leading to developmentally appropriate recourses for teachers and those within the education community.

“UO is thrilled to build upon our annual celebration of Pride through this collaboration with GLSEN and Taylor Bennett,” said Stacey Britt Fitzgerald, Urban Outfitters’ Global Director of Creative Marketing. “GLSEN’s work is vital in the creation of safe spaces for LGBTQ+ young people and we are honoured to contribute to their mission through the sales of the UO Pride collection.”

The Pride collection will be available in-store and online in Europe from June 12th.
