The A-Z of Empowering Tunes for Empowered Women

“Unlike a man [a woman] is never simply and gloriously a musician. She is a ‘female guitar player’ or ‘a female drummer’. Her gender precedes her.”

Sexism and misogyny in the music industry is still so rife in 2017, with many a festival booking predominantly male headliners and lineups. Only 3 solo women have won The Mercury Prize award in its 22 year history and less than 5% of recognised producers are women. That doesn’t mean that we’re going to stop celebrating the gals who make up bop here at HISKIND. In celebration of International Women’s Day 2017, we’ve picked out the only pussy poppin’ playlist, filled with empowering women singers empowered songs you need.
