Caitlyn Scarlett is a singer-songwriter hailing from Berkshire who, at a mere 16 years of age, left home to pursue her music career. It’s a decision that would appear to have done nothing but benefit her, having garnered five million streams on Spotify and working with the likes of Example, Little Simz and even Idris Elba since her move to London. Pretty impressive to obtain this early on into a career, if you ask us.
She, too, possesses quite the musical evolution for someone with only a handful of (very, very good) releases to her name: the soulful, stripped-bare Rust and Possession Of A Weapon verging into rap territory. These preceded the mind-blowing Shangri-La, a full-throttle pop explosion equally as vibrant and fantastical as the Glastonbury stage area it shares a name with.
Now with her new EP Red Tape: Volume 1 in sight, HISKIND is proud to debut new cut Zoo ahead of the release next week. Driven by pulsing synths and sun-kissed, radio-friendly melodies, she boldly states that “there’s more than an elephant in the room / We’ve got the whole zoo” across three minutes of blissful, loud-n-proud pop. We’ll make a guess that said-elephant in the room is the certainty that Caitlyn Scarlett is undoubtedly on the cusp of huge things…
Stream Zoo below (and make it your Friday mission to check out her array of pop gems). New EP Red Tape: Volume 1 is out 28 July.
