We are excited and honoured to announce our official partnership with New York City Pride 2017.
No doubt the most iconic and trailblazing LGBT+ pride event in the world, this year’s NYC Pride’s theme is “We Are Proud” and unifies the LGBT+ spectrum in a way that pays homage to our diverse community of LGBT people and the progress made for LGBT rights. The theme also recognises how far we still have to go across the US, the UK and internationally.
Maryanne Roberto Fine, NYC Pride’s Co Chair declares that this year’s theme speaks to “the striking nature of the human race to stand in commonality and be accounted for in moments of thrilling victory and tumultuous times.”

NYC Pride 2017 will run from 16-25th June, days before the anniversary of the iconic Stonewall Riots, which were responsible for the first Gay Liberation March in 1970. 2017 is thusforth the 48th NYC Pride and aims to celebrate all those who have fought for the LGBT+ community up to this point, from the Marsha P Johnsons and Harvey Milks, to the Laverne Coxs and Barrack Obamas. The celebration will also follow on just days after the one year anniversary since the Pulse Nightclub shootings in Orlando, Florida.
This year’s roster will include the March, Rally, PrideFest, OutCinema, Teaze and a new multi-day cultural experience on Pier 26.
Pier 26 will host a queer and colourful music festival with the likes of Patti LaBelle, Tegan and Sara, Years & Years, Róisín Murphy and Gallant performing in the three day extravaganza between 23-25th June.
Pride Island Director, Jose Ramos explained that “while LGBT Pride at its heart is about activism and social change, we also believe that our community needs a space to celebrate who we are and what we’ve achieved, and that’s why we created Pride Island.”
Keep an eye out for a HISKIND presence throughout the celebrations!
