Arguably one of the strongest line ups to make an appearance in 2017 thus far, BBC 6 Music have announced the names set to appear at the annual weekend bash. Boy, we are far from disappointed.
Running from March 24-26th, this year’s weekender makes its way to Glasgow with indie darlings Belle and Sebastian and synthpop pioneers Depeche Mode taking on headliner duties for the Sunday. Friday will see sets from dance-duo Goldfrapp in a 19th Century church and guitar heroes Warpaint taking stage in the legendary Barrowland Ballroom. Bonobo will top the Saturday evening bill.
The Saturday night of the event, billed as ^ Music Festival Late, will also see DJ sets from Hercules & Love Affair, Jungle and Simian Mobile Disco.
2017 sees the event head into Glasgow, staging music across various venues within the city including the aforementioned Barrowland Ballroom, O2 Academy and St Luke’s church among others. Announced live on her BBC 6 Music morning show from Glasgow School of Art, Lauren Laverne expressed her excitement for the “fantastic project” and it’s Glaswegian setting.
“I’m really excited about coming back to Glasgow,” she explained. “I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager and you couldn’t get a more vibrant music scene to plug into. I’ve grown up listening to music from this city from bands such as Orange Juice and being a musician myself in the nineties I’ve hung out with lots of bands such as Mogwai. I think this is a fantastic project.”
The full line up and information is available from here with tickets on sale from Friday.
