Edward Enninful Appointed Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue

When news broke that Alexandra Shulman was stepping down after a 25-year reign as Editor in Chief of British Vogue, the rumor mill went into overdrive. After months of hearsay and chinese whispers it was finally announced today that Edward Enninful would take over from August 1.

A powerhouse in the fashion world, Edward is currently the Creative and Fashion Director of US based magazine W. His start in the industry was pretty monumental from the get-go as he was appointed Fashion Director of i-D at just 19 years old.

Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Conde Nast International, said “By virtue of his talent and experience, Edward is supremely prepared to assume the responsibility of British Vogue”.

This is the first time in the publications history that a man will assume the chief position. Even more exciting and inspiring is that Edward hails from Ghana, bringing a new perspective to the rather conservative magazine.
