We’re all aware that the best nights out usually involve some form of pop-centric club night. Make it one big LGBTQ+ celebration and you’ll likely find us down the front, pleading the DJ for more Carly Rae Jepsen…
Enter Gal Pals: The Brighton collective of girls creating safe space club nights for queer women, non-binary people and the music-loving LGBTQ+ community. Spinning music exclusively from women, Gal Pals is most definitely your new fav queer dance party and one we can assure makes for a far better Friday night than what you already had planned. The poster alone confirms this:
The creation of queer couple Scarlett and Candice, as a response “to the lacklustre offer of freshers events for LBT+ women,” the collective rocks up in London this evening (03/11) taking over legendary Dalston haunt Birthday’s for their Heaven Is A Place On Earth bash. As Candice, Gal Pals’ resident DJ, explains:
“I like to use Gal Pals as a chance to share my favourite new UK artists that I think everyone should know about – so there are some great tracks by Dream Wife, Kero Kero Bonito and Nimmo on this playlist. Our music policy is basically 1/2 pop party classics, and 1/2 all of those songs you listen to in your bedroom that you’ve always wanted to hear on club speakers.
“My mate messaged me the other day and said ‘Gal Pals is the only place I’ve ever seen people go HAM for Realiti (Demo) by Grimes’, and I like that we can draw an unpretentious crowd who are willing to just come along for the ride. This playlist pulls together some of the biggest Gal Pals anthems that you’re likely to hear on the night!”
Gal Pals bring their Heaven Is A Place On Earth club night to Dalston’s Birthdays this evening with the final tickets available to nab from right here. Stream/get pleasantly pre-pissed to their anthem-packed playlist below.
