With the real-life dystopian film that was Trump’s inauguration finally behind us, much of the conversation and anticipation around the menswear shows has revolved around how the designers might choose to handle the turbulent political climate.
At Balenciaga this took the form of a coded tribute to everyones favourite socialist-grandpa-next-door, Bernie Sanders, with the brand lifting Bernie’s campaign logo design as a motif of the autumn/winter 17 menswear collection. The show featured Democrat-blue and Republican-red jackets, shirts, and big cosy scarves. These garms are perfect for wrapping up warm as we eagerly anticipate a bitterly cold four-year winter under President Trump.
